Panasonic Unveils 10 Digicams

Panasonic has unveiled a number of point-and-shoot compact camera models in its Lumix digital camera line, including DMC-FX30, DMC-LS70, DMC-LZ7, DMC-LZ6, DMC-TZ3, DMC-FZ8, DMC-TZ2, DMC-FX8, DMC-FX10, and DMC-FX12.

The DMC-FX30, which measures 3.74 x 2.04 x 0.87 inches and weighs about 0.29 lbs, features 7.2-megapixel sensor, 28mm wide-angle lens, 3.6x optical zoom, f/2.8 brightness, and 2.5-inch LCD screen. It has optical image stabilization, and can shoot in 4:3, 2:3, and 16:9 aspect ratios. This camera will start shipping this month at a cost of $349.95 (Rs 15,442 approx).

The DMC-LS70 is a 7.2-megapixel CCD, having superb optical 3x zoom, and is powered by two AA batteries. The camera has a 2.0-inch LCD, records both standard and wide-aspect VGA motion images at 30 frames per second, offers a total of 18 scene modes, and accepts large-capacity SDHC memory cards. It will start shipping this month at a price of $149.95 (Rs 6,615 approx).

The DMC-LZ7 and DMC-LZ6 both boast 7.2-megapixel CCD, powerful 6x optical zoom lenses, and convenient AA battery operation. The two new cameras also include 'Intelligent Image Stabilization', are PictBridge-compatible, have a total of 18 different scene modes, and are equipped with the Panasonic Venus Engine III image-processing engine. While the LZ6 is equipped with a 2.0-inch LCD display, the LZ7 has a 2.5-inch display. Both cameras will ship this month at a price of $199.95 (Rs 8,822 approx)for the LZ7 and $179.95 (Rs 7,940 approx) for the LZ6.

The DMC-TZ3 is a compact model equipped with 7.2-megapixel sensor, 28mm wide-angle lens, 10x optical zoom, 3.0-inch LCD and stainless steel body. It can shoot in 4:3, 2:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios, and can take up to three shots per second at full resolution, allowing consecutive shooting until its memory card is full. The camera will be available in March this year for $349.95 (Rs 15,442 approx).

The DMC-FZ8 is a 7.2-megapixel CCD that boasts 12x optical zoom coupled with Panasonic's Extra Optical Zoom function that provides additional magnification up to 18x when taking photos with 3-megapixel resolution. It also features 2.5-inch LCD, the Panasonic LSI Venus Engine III, a total of 18 scene modes, and allows approximately 380 shots to be taken on a single charge. This camera will start shipping this month with a price of $349.95 (Rs 15,442 approx).

The DMC-TZ2 is a 6 megapixel camera with 2.5-inch LCD panel. It will be available in Europe sometime in May 2007.

The DMC-FX8 is a 7.2 megapixel CCD with 12X optical zoom, has a 2.5-inch LCD viewfinder, and a multi-purpose joystick. This camera will ship sometime this month for $349.95 (Rs 15,442).

The DMC-FX10 and DMC-FX12 both feature digital image stabilization, 3X optical zoom, and 2.5-inch LCDs. While the DMC-FX10 has a 6 megapixel sensor, the DMC-FX12 uses a 7.2 megapixel one. The DMC-FX10 and the DMC-FX12 will be available this month for $199.95 (Rs 8,997.75) and $229.95 (Rs 10,347.75) respectively.
